ITACCS INDIA

  

 

The International Trauma Care (ITACCS) and ITACCS India have collaborated to develop the National ‘Comprehensive Trauma Life Support Course’. The second course will be held in Agra, India on 6th to 7th Sept. 2006 prior to the ITACCS Agra 2006 meeting. Dr. Parr will be the course director with an international faculty from the UK, Australia and USA.

Michael JA Parr
MBBS, FRCP, FRCA, FANZCA, FJFICM

Michael Parr trained in the UK, New Zealand, USA and Australia. He is a Senior Staff Specialist and Director of Intensive Care at Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals, Sydney and Senior Lecturer in Intensive Care, Anaesthesia and Emergency Medicine at the University of New South Wales. He is Associate Editor of the journal Resuscitation the official journal of the European Resuscitation Council and contributor to the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation guidelines process.
He is President of International Trauma Care.  (www.itaccs.com ).

 

Dr Tony Joseph, FACEM

Dr Joseph is the Director of Trauma and an Emergency Physician at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney. He was the chairperson of the steering committee for the formation of the Australasian Trauma Society in 1997 and is a Past President and Treasurer of the Society. His interests include the use of ultrasound in trauma and other emergent situations and he was involved in the drafting of the ATS’ policy and credentialling guidelines for the use of ultrasound in trauma patients. He is the Chairperson of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Subcommittee (until December 2004) and is the current Chair of the NSW Faculty of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine. 

 

Maureen McCunn, M.D, M.I.P.P

Dr. Maureen McCunn is an Associate Professor at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, USA, where she practices both Trauma Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine. She is the Medical Director of the Neurotrauma Critical Care Unit and the Physician Director of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapies at the Medical Center, and is Acting Medical Director of the ICU at Kernan Rehabilitation Hospital for traumatic brain and spinal cord injury patients. Dr. McCunn received her master’s degree in International Public Policy from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D. C. in May, 2004. 

 

Sashi Kumar MBBS, DLO, AMC, FACEM

Dr. Sashi Kumar trained in Chennai, New Zealand and Australia. He is a Senior Staff Specialist in Emergency Medicine and Honorary Lecturer in Emergency Medicine at the Canberra Clinical School which is affiliated to the University of Sydney and at the Australian National University in Canberra. He is the Site Medical Commander for Disasters in the Australian Capital Territory . He is a member of the National EMST/ATLS Committee and directs the EMST courses in Canberra for over 12 years. He has directed and instructed EMST/ATLS courses in New Zealand , Singapore, Papua New Guinea and New York. He was awarded the National EMST Scholarship in 2000. He is a practising Emergency Physician in a major trauma hospital . His special interests are Trauma, ENT, Disaster Medicine and Orthopaedic Trauma. 

 

Grant R Christey BScHons, MBChB, FRACS

Grant Christey trained in New Zealand as a General Surgeon and completed a trauma fellowship at Auckland Hospital. He is currently employed as a Trauma and General Surgeon at Liverpool Hospital and is a Lecturer in Surgery at University of New South Wales in Sydney. He is instructor of FAST (Focussed Abdominal Sonography in Trauma) and DSTC (Definitive Surgical Trauma Care). Special interests in Trauma Surgery include abdominal compartment syndrome, and management of laparostomies and complex abdomino-pelvic wounds. 

 

Gillian Bishop FANZCA, FJFICM

Director Of Intensive Care Units at Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals, Director of Intensive Care for the South Western Area Health service, Examiner in physiology for the Australasian College of Anaesthetists, External examiner in physiology for the 2005 University of Malaysia. 

 

 

Samir Suri 

Training in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in Australia. Presently Registrar in the Intensive Care Unit at Liverpool Hospital, Sydney. He has done the EMST, MIMMS, FAST and CRB courses. He is also an Instructor for MIMMS, Australia.

 

 

 

Ramanathan Kandasamy MBBS, DA, FRCA, FCARCS

R. Kandasamy trained in India, UK, Singapore and Australia. He is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust in Yorkshire, England. He is the local educational supervisor for Intensive in the trust. He is an Examiner for MRCS Examination for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has a special interest in Trauma & Difficult Airway Management

 

Sally McCarthy , MBBS, FACEM, MBA (AGSM)

Director of Emergency Medicine at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, Australia Conjoint senior lecturer in Emergency Medicine, UNSW, is an emergency physician and. Sally is an experienced service director with particular interests in managing change and innovation to produce the high performing emergency department, clinical risk management and evidence based practice. She is Chair of Standards Committee for the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, and an EMST and MIMMS instructor. Current research projects include utility of the wireless tablet PC in the clinical environment, sensible test ordering practice and proactive learning and effectiveness of junior medical staff. Her non-work life is centered on her family, and improving her surfing skills.

 

Heatherlee Bailey, MD, FAAEM

Heatherlee Bailey trained in the United States in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care. She is the Associate Program Director of the Emergency Medicine Residency and Assistant Professor at Drexel University College of Medicine (formerly known as MCP Hahnemann University). She is senior staff in the Emergency Department at Hahnemann University Hospital. She is the Director of Critical Care Education for the Department of Emergency Medicine. She is President of the PA Chapter at the Society for Critical Care Medicine
