Born
on 24th March 1954, Dr. B.K.Rao graduated from the University
of Delhi, India in 1975. After doing his MD in anaesthesiology in 1980 he
started his career in anaesthesiology. Soon he found interest in trauma
and critical care and dedicated his full attention to these fields. He is
a recognized teacher and examiner for the Critical Care Medicine Diplomate
of National Board course, Ministry of Health, India. Besides he is also a
certified trauma care provider course instructor.
Dr.
Rao has spent 25 years in clinical practice, teaching, research and
administration. He is currently the chairman, Dept. of Critical care and
Emergency Medicine and the Secretary, Board of Management, Sir Ganga Ram
Hospital, New Delhi.
Dr. Rao has received numerous honors and awards, and
has contributed many articles in scientific publications. Dr. Rao has
delivered talks in many national and international conferences. In
recognition of his contribution to the field of respiratory care the
American Association of Respiratory Care, Dallas, awarded him the 1993
international fellowship.
He was unanimously elected Vice-President of
ITACCS (Indian Chapter) in 2002 and is presently the acting President of
the society. Dr Rao organized the 2003 annual conference of ITACCS (Indian
Chapter) in 2003 in New Delhi, India. It was a highly praised conference
with 19 international faculty and over 1000 national and international
